Texture/Material - Dense Textured handwoven Tussar Narural silk fabric. These fabrics are completely handwoven on a frame loom. The yarns/threads used for this fabric is Tussar and spun silk. Handwoven fabrics have totally different texture then mill made fabrics. It is due to the low weaving speed and the equipment used for weaving that determine the thickness and quality of the yarn. It is these textures that helps in creating distinct handloom fabrics. This is a pure handwoven, pure silk natural product. The gsm of this fabric would be around 250 to 300.
Tussar silk is produced from larvae of several species of silkworms belonging to the moth genus Antheraea, including A. assamensis, A. paphia, A. pernyi, A. roylei, and A. yamamai. These silkworms live in the wild forests in trees belonging to Terminalia species and Shorea robusta, as well as other food plants such as jamun and oak found in South Asia, eating the leaves of the trees on which they live. Tussar silk is valued for its rich texture and natural, deep-gold colour, and varieties are produced in many countries, including China, India, Japan, and Sri Lanka.
